SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
Interface and physical dimensions. Hose assemblies supplied to this CID specification sheet shall meet
the general requirements specified in A-A-59567 and be as specified herein (see figure 1).
Hose. Hose shall be in accordance with A-A-59567.
Hose grade dash number:
-1 -
Commercial hose
-3 -
Weather and ozone-resistant hose
Class dash number:
-1 -
General non-potable water inner tube
-2 -
Potable water inner tube
Grade 1, class 1. Grade 1, class 1 hose is intended for general water discharge services.
Grade 3, class I or class 2. Grade 3, class 1 or class 2 hose is intended for water applications where
resistance to deterioration by weather and ozone is required.
Class 2 inner tube. Grade 1 or grade 3 hose with class 2 inner tube is for use with potable water.
Hose assemblies. Hose assemblies shall be furnished with a male and female ends of the same type
style, class, and material as specified in the PIN.
Working pressure. Working pressure shall be in accordance with A-A-59567.
Interface and physical dimensions. Hose assemblies supplied to this CID specification sheet shall meet
the general requirements specified in A-A-59567 and as specified herein.
Construction. Unless otherwise specified, long handle swivel couplings coupling parts shall be in
accordance with A-A-59614 and A-A-59614/9 for expansion ring couplings.
Hose assembly size codes. Hose assembly size code shall be in accordance with table I.
Length of hose assembles. Length of hose assembles shall be measured in feet in accordance with
A-A-59567. Examples: 080 for 80 feet and 250 for 250 feet.
Construction. Unless otherwise specified, type III coupling parts shall be in accordance with
A-A-59614/9, except as specified herein.
Couplings.
Coupling classes. Couplings classes are defined in the individual CID sheets and are as follows:
Class AA couplings. Class AA couplings shall be able to withstand an internal hydrostatic pressure of
300 psi for sizes .500 through 1.000 inch, 250 psi for sizes 1.250 and 1.500 inch, 200 psi and for sizes
2.000 through 4.000 inch for at least one minute without showing any signs of leakage. See table I for
hose assembly sizes available.
Class B couplings. Type III, class B couplings shall be able to withstand an internal hydrostatic pressure
as specified for class AA couplings and a 22-inch mercury vacuum for at least one minute without loss of
coupling seal or where the hose joins the coupling. See table I for hose assembly sizes available.
