COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HOSE, RUBBER; OIL SUCTION, WIRE REINFORCED
The General Service Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for MIL-H-52544B(AT) which is canceled.
1.0 Abstract. This commercial item description (CID) covers two types of bulk wire-reinforced hydraulic suction hose (see 1.1) for use in hydraulic suction lines. Operating temperatures in excess of the rated temperatures (see 1.1) may materially reduce the life of the hose.
1.1 Classification. Hoses shall be of the following types:
Type I- operating temperature range from -40°F to 200°F
Type II- operating temperature range from -40°F to 250°F
2.0 Salient characteristics.
2.1 Material. Hose shall be as specified herein. Materials not specified shall be selected by the contractor and shall be subject to all provisions of this CID. The use of recovered material made in compliance with regulatory requirements of this CID are met (see 5.4).
2.1.1 Tube. The tube of the hose shall be seamless oil-resistant synthetic rubber.
2.1.2 Cover. The cover of the hose shall be seamless ozone and oil resistant synthetic rubber.
2.2 Design and construction. Type I hose shall conform to SAE J 517. Type II hose shall conform to SAE J517, except hose shall be capable of an operating temperature range of -40°F to 250°F. The maximum operating pressure for each hose size shall be in accordance with SAE J517 series 100R4.
